The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in Thor Griffith, taking him 61 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The King pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Warren at the 12th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach on Alfred Collins in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Will Howard. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jordan James at Round 5, Pick 11 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Ollie Gordon II went about where he belonged in pick No. 170. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Kobe King in slot 172, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Logan Brown still on the board at Round 5, Pick 35. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Hayden Conner in the 190th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Miles Frazier well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Thor Griffith at No. 249 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
