Every other box got a look, but wide receiver did not. The Cowboys will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
The Watson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Every board in the league had Cohen lower, and that gap is the story. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
The board had Terrion Arnold higher than slot 30, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Patrick Paul worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Bucky Irving in No. 93 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
A reach for Javion Cohen in pick 130; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Ty'Ron Hopper at the 174th pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A conviction pick on Steele Chambers at the 212th overall pick that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Blake Watson in Round 7, Pick 31 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
