Some picks age like wine; Eric Gentry at slot 251 will need to, sitting 20 spots clear of his grade. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Muhammad III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A tidy little value on Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 62nd pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They let Cooper Beebe come to them and pounced at pick No. 95. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kris Abrams-Draine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Moose Muhammad III at pick 174 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
JD Bertrand in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Zakhari Franklin in the 245th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Eric Gentry in Round 7, Pick 31 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
