The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 245th overall pick on Amari Gainer a full 47 spots early. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hopper. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in the 56th overall pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in pick 87, with Cooper Beebe worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; Kris Abrams-Draine went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Ty'Ron Hopper here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jawhar Jordan at Round 6, Pick 37 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Amari Gainer well ahead of where he belonged. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
