Thirty-one other rooms let Braelon Allen slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at Round 5, Pick 38. Highway robbery. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
T'Vondre Sweat in slot 56 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 87 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tommy Eichenberg in the 124th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braelon Allen at No. 174 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value with a capital V on Myles Jones in pick 212, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Aaron Frost at Round 7, Pick 25 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
