They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Kendall Milton, 107 picks early at Round 7, Pick 25.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Troy Franklin at slot 33 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Caelen Carson at pick 65, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
McKinnley Jackson at the 87th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Malik Washington in the 124th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaylan Ford in pick No. 174 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A quiet steal in the 220th pick: Sheridan Jones for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A wild overpay on Kendall Milton in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
