The real work happened on the phones. The Cowboys fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They are betting Anderson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Ja'Lynn Polk at par in the 56th pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 24, with Cooper Beebe worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, McKinnley Jackson in pick No. 92. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cedric Gray. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ty'Ron Hopper at slot 174 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

They reached into another round for Evan Anderson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
