The rest of the league had time to spare on Jordan Davis; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 117 spots ahead at the Round 7 slot. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Torrence steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper DeJean in pick No. 56 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Sedrick Van Pran at the 88th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steele Chambers at pick 174 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Daijun Edwards at the 202nd pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Caedan Wallace at slot 216 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Ro Torrence all the way to pick 233, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jordan Davis at the 244th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
