The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 136 spots for Thor Griffith, and value like that does not grow back. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
The Emmanwori pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
Tyler Warren at pick 25 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Alfred Collins in the 57th pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach pick No. 58 and blink. They did not. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jackson Slater well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quinshon Judkins at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Shough. It fills a real need, too.
They read the board right and Logan Brown was the payoff at the 170th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at No. 172 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thor Griffith. The roster fit checks out.
