Call it larceny. Dwight McGlothern sat on the board until slot 244, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Davis reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
A slide stopped in pick No. 56, with Darius Robinson worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Value said wait; Ray Davis in the 87th overall pick says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Delmar Glaze in Round 5, Pick 38 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 216th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Isaiah Williams at No. 233 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Dwight McGlothern in pick 244, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
