The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jalen Milroe fell into pick No. 90. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. The Restrepo reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value.
No edge and no loss on Omarion Hampton in slot 33; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Xavier Restrepo in pick No. 58 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jalen Milroe at the 90th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy little value on Wyatt Milum in Round 4, Pick 26, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Jonah Coleman still on the board at pick 154. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Davison Igbinosun at No. 186 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
