Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys bled value on every deal, hence the D.

Nobody had Thor Griffith this high, and it is not close. The Cowboys reached 96 spots to get him at the 171st overall pick.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sanders.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In the 13th pick they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Isaiah Bond · WR · rank 32
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Bond in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Chris Paul Jr. · LB · rank 117
Chris Paul Jr. in pick 78 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.29 · Pick 93 · Jake Majors · C · rank 93
Jake Majors at No. 93 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.32 · Pick 170 · Theo Wease Jr. · WR · rank 194
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Theo Wease Jr.. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.33 · Pick 171 · Thor Griffith · DL · rank 267
They reached a country mile for Thor Griffith at slot 171, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Phillip Webb · DL-EDGE · rank 283
Phillip Webb at pick 189 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Clay Webb · OG · rank 211
No drama and no debate, Clay Webb went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 34. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.34 · Pick 248 · Shilo Sanders · S · rank 234
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Shilo Sanders in the Round 7 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
