There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took DJ Giddens a full 23 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Sanders value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge. More want than need.
A tidy bit of business in No. 58, where Tre Harris graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Raheim Sanders in pick No. 90, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jaishawn Barham in slot 122 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
DJ Giddens in pick 154 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Joey Slackman in Round 6, Pick 26; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
