The search is over. The Cowboys handed the keys to Jalen Milroe, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 30 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A real need, handled.
Isaiah Bond at Round 2, Pick 4 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Omarion Hampton in slot 62 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Kevin Winston Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Somehow Emery Jones was still sitting there in No. 69, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Rylie Mills in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jason Marshall Jr.. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Steal is underselling it; Antwane Wells Jr. at the 126th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Raheim Sanders in No. 133 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
