The Cowboys torched the value chart for Cobee Bryant, taking him 41 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.
Whatever Jalen Milroe becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a long-term answer under center, reach and all.
In pick 32 they get a lead back with juice at fair value. A real need, handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mykel Williams in the 50th pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nazir Stackhouse well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Jay Higgins in Round 3, Pick 32 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Cobee Bryant at the 116th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
