If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Sam Hartman at No. 173 is 109 spots clear of where he belonged.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Barrett. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Fair-plus on Nate Wiggins, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
T'Vondre Sweat at pick No. 56 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Justin Eboigbe at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A wild overpay on Sam Hartman in No. 173, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nice patience on Joe Milton III, who had no business lasting to pick 213. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nathan Thomas at slot 231 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Michael Barrett at the 242nd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
