The rest of the league will want that one back. Bo Nix tumbling to the Cowboys in slot 56 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Every board in the league had Allen lower, and that gap is the story. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Taking Bo Nix in the 56th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cooper Beebe at pick 87 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached into another round for Braelon Allen, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaylan Ford in Round 5, Pick 38 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Kenny Logan Jr. at the 206th pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
David Ugwoegbu at pick No. 212 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Joshua Cephus at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
