The Cowboys spent real capital to be 56 picks early on Tommy Eichenberg, and the board is going to hold them to it. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Amarius Mims went about where he belonged in slot 26. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Xavier Worthy in pick No. 56 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Bucky Irving at Round 3, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They talked themselves into Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steele Chambers at the 174th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jowon Briggs well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 13 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at pick No. 244 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
