The trade table was a mismatch, and the Cowboys were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. They executed a plan and it shows in the A.
They banked enough surplus on Hairston to cover a lot of smaller sins. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Adding Mack Wilson Sr. by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Will Campbell and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 16 they get a cornerstone up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Tyleik Williams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Omarion Hampton slipping to the 47th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Omarr Norman-Lott in the 91st pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Maxwell Hairston in pick 101 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
