The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Evan Williams, the No. 214 name on the board, in the 244th overall pick. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
Brandon Dorlus in the 87th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They read the board right and Walter Rouse was the payoff at pick No. 174. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A quiet steal in the Round 6 slot: Kendall Milton for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ryan Flournoy in No. 233 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Evan Williams in pick 244, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
