The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Kiran Amegadjie, the No. 52 name on the board, sitting there at Round 4, Pick 24 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Ogunbiyi pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
The Cowboys clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Aki Ogunbiyi. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Chau Smith-Wade at No. 212 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Zion Logue in slot 245, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
