Start where it matters. The Cowboys took Bo Nix to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
However the rest shakes out, Barton at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy little value on Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick 56, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Graham Barton at No. 87 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach for Cedric Gray in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had cheaper options than Brennan Jackson at Round 5, Pick 37, and it noticed. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They read the board right and Josh Proctor was the payoff at the 213th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
JD Bertrand in the 242nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
