The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Harold Perkins Jr., the No. 128 name on the board, sitting there at slot 168 like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
If Hudson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Mason Graham in pick 14 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Omarion Hampton in Round 2, Pick 13, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach on Barrett Carter in slot 76; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kobe Hudson well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Harold Perkins Jr. was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into Ar'maj Reed-Adams at the 170th overall pick, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Simeon Barrow Jr. at Round 5, Pick 33 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cam Skattebo in pick No. 189. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Eli Stowers in pick 209 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They did well to land Shilo Sanders in No. 248, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
