The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Zion Logue, 53 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The Jones pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Circle this one: Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Blake Corum in Round 3, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Walter Rouse slid further than he should have, and pick No. 174 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Andrew Raym at No. 216, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zion Logue at pick 233 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Sheridan Jones at the 244th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
