The rest of the league will want that one back. Ollie Gordon II tumbling to the Cowboys in pick No. 248 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Every board in the league had Griffith lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 20th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 44 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Omarion Hampton at slot 51 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Tyleik Williams all the way to pick 76, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Donovan Jackson in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Billy Bowman Jr. in No. 148, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They barely believed it either: Barrett Carter still on the board at the 168th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Kalel Mullings at Round 5, Pick 33 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Luke Kandra was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Simeon Barrow Jr. in slot 186 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pat Bryant in Round 6, Pick 14 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They talked themselves into Thor Griffith at No. 209, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ollie Gordon II at pick 248 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
