Dallas Cowboys

Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Cowboys: C.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Will Rogers a full 123 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

Landing Sanders that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

So much rides on Malachi Moore that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.6 · Pick 38 · Malachi Moore · S · rank 17
Malachi Moore in the 38th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Jaxson Dart · QB · rank 127
Jaxson Dart at the 44th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 91
Danny Stutsman in slot 69 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Blake Miller · OT · rank 133
A real head-scratcher, Blake Miller in No. 77 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.12 · Pick 113 · Dontay Corleone · DT · rank 109
Dontay Corleone at pick 113 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.13 · Pick 151 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 142
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ollie Gordon II in pick No. 151. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.31 · Pick 169 · Raheim Sanders · RB · rank 130
A running back of that caliber at the 169th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.32 · Pick 170 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 172
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Foster at the 170th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.34 · Pick 172 · Garrett Dellinger · OG · rank 239
Garrett Dellinger at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Tonka Hemingway · DT · rank 205
Tonka Hemingway in Round 6, Pick 13 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Will Rogers · QB · rank 332
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Will Rogers. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
