The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for DeMonte Capehart, 59 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. A mixed bag that lands at C.
Getting Pritchett where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at No. 56, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Junior Colson at Round 3, Pick 24, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Braelon Allen at pick 105 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Nehemiah Pritchett still on the board at the 174th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
DeMonte Capehart at slot 208 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Arik Gilbert in pick 245 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
