The Devin Culp pick is the one that will follow the Cowboys into the fall. They took him 60 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Landing Smith-Wade that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reach on Jaylen Wright in Round 2, Pick 24; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in No. 62: Junior Colson for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Chau Smith-Wade here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tykee Smith in slot 155 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board had cheaper options than Cornelius Johnson at the 174th pick, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Julian Pearl at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jaden Crumedy at pick 216 is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Richard Jibunor in the 233rd pick, miles early. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Devin Culp at the 244th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
