Dallas Cowboys

Judkins should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Quinshon Judkins, the No. 78 name on the board, stolen at the Round 6 slot.

They will need Wease Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. It is not that Overton is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Luther Burden III · WR · rank 22
In pick No. 13 they get a home-run threat at receiver, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Mykel Williams · DE · rank 37
They did well to land Mykel Williams in the 44th pick, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · LT Overton · DE · rank 52
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 27: LT Overton adds an edge rusher while quarterback, tight end and other spots keeps waiting.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Xavier Watts · S · rank 48
They barely believed it either: Xavier Watts still on the board at slot 127. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.12 · Pick 150 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 106
They robbed the room for Nicholas Singleton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
R5.31 · Pick 169 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 202
Bryce Foster in No. 169 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.32 · Pick 170 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 111
Smael Mondon Jr. at the 170th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.33 · Pick 171 · Theo Wease Jr. · WR · rank 205
A wild overpay on Theo Wease Jr. in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.15 · Pick 190 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 78
Quinshon Judkins in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Davison Igbinosun · CB · rank 225
They reached a country mile for Davison Igbinosun at slot 202, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · David Walker · LB · rank 168
Steal is underselling it; David Walker at the 209th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
