The Cowboys spent real capital to be 23 picks early on Miles Frazier, and the board is going to hold them to it. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Guyton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 30th pick they get a sticky cover corner, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They let Tyler Guyton come to them and pounced at pick 62. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on McKinnley Jackson. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Dylan Laube in Round 4, Pick 30 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Bru McCoy at the Round 5 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Miles Frazier at No. 212 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Aubrey Burks at No. 251, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
