This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Roman Wilson, the No. 82 name on the board, stolen at No. 121. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Terrion Arnold in Round 2, Pick 13 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Roman Wilson still on the board at pick No. 121. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ethan Driskell at slot 199 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on Omar Speights in the 212th overall pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mark Perry in No. 242. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jeremy James at the 245th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
