The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Cam Hart, Round 5, Pick 38, roughly 37 picks past where he belonged.
They will need Randolph Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a matchup problem out wide, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 56, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Sedrick Van Pran went about where he belonged in pick 87. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Keith Randolph Jr. at No. 124 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board fumbled Cam Hart all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 37 with a little surplus value in Jawhar Jordan. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
DeMonte Capehart in the 245th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
