The rest of the league had time to spare on Tatum Bethune; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 33 spots ahead at pick 212. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Getting Morgan where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Morgan at No. 37 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in slot 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on Marist Liufau at the 87th pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jarrian Jones in Round 4, Pick 5 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Will Shipley. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Roger Rosengarten in the 174th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tatum Bethune in the 212th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jordan Whittington well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
