You can hear the double-takes from here. The Cowboys took Jordan Whittington at the 251st overall pick, roughly 28 spots before his name belonged.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Murphy. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 30 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A conviction pick on Blake Corum at slot 62 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Max Melton in Round 3, Pick 30 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A quiet steal in the 130th overall pick: Gabriel Murphy for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
