The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kris Abrams-Draine fell into slot 174.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing T.J. Tampa in the 56th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 24, a step better than break-even. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good price on Beau Brade in No. 124, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They robbed the room for Kris Abrams-Draine here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
