The Cowboys lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
Every board in the league had Rosemy-Jacksaint lower, and that gap is the story. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Gore Jr. at that price is a win they earned.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Gabriel Murphy. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 173rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for KT Leveston at the 213th overall pick, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Matthew Jones well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Frank Gore Jr. at pick 242 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
