The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Beaux Limmer, 40 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They went early on Jaylen Wright in Round 2, Pick 24, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached into another round for Beaux Limmer, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach for Jordan Jefferson in slot 174; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, JD Bertrand at the 216th pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Darius Muasau in pick 233 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A big swing on Matt Lee at No. 244, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
