They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Nathaniel Watson, 33 picks early at the 174th pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and tight end still on the board. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid up for Kingsley Suamataia at the 56th pick when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Trey Benson at par in No. 73, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Devontez Walker in pick No. 87; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Javon Solomon at OLB-EDGE with quarterback and tight end open.
Tyler Davis in Round 4, Pick 31 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nathaniel Watson at Round 5, Pick 38 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in pick 216, with Johnny Dixon worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Eric Watts went about where he belonged in the 233rd pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
By-the-book stuff, Logan Lee at slot 244 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
