Call it larceny. Tahj Washington sat on the board until the Round 6 slot, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. The cost of the Knight reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Zach Frazier in pick 56, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No edge and no loss on Trey Benson in Round 3, Pick 24; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They liked Jordan Jefferson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 174th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tahj Washington reach the 216th overall pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with JD Bertrand worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyrice Knight a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
