Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Sheridan Jones, the No. 221 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 245. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Vidal has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Graham Barton, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Payton Wilson slipping to pick 87 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Leonard Taylor III in No. 124 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach on Kimani Vidal in the 174th overall pick; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Isaiah Williams higher than the Round 6 slot, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Sheridan Jones in pick No. 245, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
