You build a draft on nights like this. TreVeyon Henderson had no business being available in No. 163, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They are betting Sanders proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
The Adonai Mitchell deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Ashton Jeanty and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 14 they get a centerpiece for the ground game, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
The board fumbled Malaki Starks all the way to pick 43, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Deone Walker. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Danny Stutsman in Round 5, Pick 10 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
TreVeyon Henderson at the 163rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Theo Wease Jr. in No. 168 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jake Majors in the 170th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Shilo Sanders in the Round 5 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ar'maj Reed-Adams. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; David Bailey at the 209th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; PJ Williams in No. 216 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
