Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys bled value on every deal, hence the D.

The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in Joe Milton III, taking him 90 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.5 · Pick 5 · Marvin Harrison Jr. · WR · rank 1
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
R1.24 · Pick 24 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In the 24th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 69
A reach on Patrick Paul in Round 2, Pick 28; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 52
Nice patience on Junior Colson, who had no business lasting to the 69th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 97
They paid up for Brenden Rice at pick No. 87 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 107
Braelon Allen at slot 105 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.10 · Pick 110 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 200
They reached a country mile for Joe Milton III at Round 4, Pick 10, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.28 · Pick 128 · Kalen King · CB · rank 139
They jumped the gun on Kalen King, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 145
The board had cheaper options than Tommy Eichenberg at pick 134, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.38 · Pick 174 · Jaylen Harrell · DE-EDGE · rank 208
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaylen Harrell. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Evan Williams · S · rank 215
No edge and no loss on Evan Williams in No. 216; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R7.13 · Pick 233 · Tylan Grable · OT · rank 231
They paid sticker price for Tylan Grable in the 233rd overall pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R7.24 · Pick 244 · Tarheeb Still · CB · rank 241
Fair-plus on Tarheeb Still, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
