Somebody took the Cowboys to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
Every board in the league had Hill lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a centerpiece for the ground game. A real need, handled.
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
TreVeyon Henderson in the 45th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyleik Williams at pick 58 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They liked Kaimon Rucker enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 77. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They took Clay Webb at par in the 90th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Tommi Hill at Round 4, Pick 13, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 122 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Trey Moore at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
Bryce Foster in the 186th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
