Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A F, plain and simple.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. Reaching for Roberts left real value on the table behind him.
The Muhammad pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left wide receiver open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 23 they get a workhorse for the backfield. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Tyleik Williams at slot 26 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jabbar Muhammad slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ajani Cornelius. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Clay Webb in pick 82 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Jaeden Roberts at the 154th pick that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Francisco Mauigoa at No. 186, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
