The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Corey Kiner fell into slot 247. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Reaching for Ritzie left real value on the table behind him. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 17th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Quinshon Judkins in pick No. 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Omarr Norman-Lott at pick 76 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at Round 3, Pick 17, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Jalen Milroe at No. 115 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cam Skattebo at slot 119 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Malachi Moore graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
Jacob Parrish in the 157th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Pat Bryant was still sitting there in No. 171, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Jay Higgins at pick 174, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 192nd pick is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
RJ Harvey at Round 6, Pick 20 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nohl Williams in slot 204 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
JJ Pegues in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Antwane Wells Jr. in the 216th overall pick, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Craig Woodson at pick No. 235 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jahvaree Ritzie well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They let Shemar James come to them and pounced at No. 239. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Corey Kiner here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
