They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jordan Jefferson, 50 picks early at the Round 4 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jones. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 28 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in the 56th pick: Cooper Beebe for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tommy Eichenberg at pick No. 128 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Jordan Jefferson in Round 4, Pick 34 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
A big swing on Jaylan Ford at pick 174, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on JD Bertrand in Round 6, Pick 41; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Solomon Byrd in the Round 7 slot, miles early. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Sheridan Jones in the 244th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
