Everything else got attention, and linebacker got none. That is a strange way for the Cowboys to leave a draft.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Omarion Hampton at slot 33 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Xavier Restrepo at the 58th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They read the board right and Alfred Collins was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 3. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in pick 76: Azareye'h Thomas for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Elijah Arroyo in No. 79, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Anthony Belton in the 117th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
