The phones were a trap the Cowboys kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McCormick.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 23 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 24 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A quiet steal in pick No. 75: Xavier Worthy for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Caelen Carson is a better player than the 105th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Isaac Guerendo in Round 4, Pick 29 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Mason McCormick was still sitting there in the 174th pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
