The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Treydan Stukes, the No. 72 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 92 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Thomas has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 20 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Treydan Stukes in Round 3, Pick 28 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They liked Bishop Fitzgerald enough to skip the value, taking him in the 115th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They paid a round early for Kage Casey in pick 152, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zxavian Harris at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Bryce Boettcher at pick No. 180 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach for Zavion Thomas in slot 218; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
