You could see the war room lean forward. Jordan Magee at Round 7, Pick 24 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 24 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Blake Fisher in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Hunter Nourzad in pick No. 174, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jase McClellan in the 216th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Whittington at slot 233 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 244 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
